Universitas Brawijaya Obral Gelar Doktor (HC) Kepada Erick Thohir, Mahasiswa Anggap Tak Pantas

SUMAPEDIA.COM, MALANG – Puluhan mahasiswa Universitas Brawijaya (UB) menolak pemberian gelar Doktor Kehormatan atau Honoris Causa untuk Menteri BUMN Erick Thohir. Massa yang tergabung dalam Aliansi Mahasiswa Resah Brawijaya (Amarah Brawijaya) ini melakukan demonstrasi di depan Gedung Samantha Krida, tempat berlangsungnya pemberian gelar HC, Jumat, 3 Maret 2023. 

Perwakilan massa aksi dari Amarah Brawijaya, Pernantian Ginting mengatakan, bahwa setidaknya ada 3 tuntutan yang ditujukan untuk Erick Thohir dan Universitas Brawijaya. Tuntutan pertama mereka meminta kampus untuk mempertahankan marwahnya untuk mempertahankan integritasnya dan tidak ikut dalam intervensi politik.

“Kemudian menuntut Universitas Brawijaya menunjukan sikap netralitas dalam Pemilu 2024. Menurut pengamatan kami ada indikasi ke Pemilu 2024,” kata Ginting.

Selain itu, mahasiswa menilai Erick Thohir tidak pantas menerima penghargaan doktor kehormatan ini karena tidak mempunyai sikap jelas dalam penanganan Tragedi Kanjuruhan. Padahal jumlah korban jiwa dalam Tragedi Kanjuruhan sebanyak 135 jiwa. 

“Kemudian terakhir menuntut UB dan Erick Thohir mengeluarkan sikap atas Tragedi Kanjuruhan,” ujar Ginting. 

Mahasiswa yang melakukan demonstrasi sempat mendapat tindakan represif dari pihak keamanan. Mereka dihalang-halangi untuk bertemu langsung dengan Erick Thohir. Hasilnya, mereka hanya melakukan aksi demonstrasi dari jarak sekitar 100 meter dari gedung Samanta Krida. 

“Hingga hari ini tentang aspirasi mahasiswa kami dibatasi dan dihalangi menyampaikan aspirasi kita. Sehingga kita tidak bisa bebas menyampaikan aspirasi kita terkait keberatan atas pemberian gelar Honoris Causa ke Erick Thohir,” tutur Ginting.
