Menanggapi kejadian itu, Lembaga Bantuan Hukum Semarang menilai tindakan yang dilakukan kepolisian masih belum memperhatikan keselamatan suporter.
“Belum beres penyelesaian kasus Kanjuruhan, kita kembali dipertontonkan penggunaan kekuatan berlebihan yang dilakukan oleh kepolisian kepada kawan-kawan suporter di Semarang.” ujar LBH Semarang dalam keterangan tertulis.
Lebih lanjut, LBH Semarang berpendapat bahwa dalam penanganan massa, kepolisian harus mengambil tindakan berdasarkan prinsip necesitas (tindakan seperlunya), proporsionalitas, reasonable, mengutamakan tindakan preventif, serta berpegang pada asas legalitas.
“Oleh karena itu, kami menuntut agar menghentikan penggunaan kekuatan berlebihan dalam setiap tindakan yang dilakukan oleh kepolisian, sesuai dengan prinsip hak asasi manusia, dan kepada PSSI untuk melakukan pemeriksaan mendalam kepada panitia pelaksana.” tutup LBH Semarang.
Sebelumnya, pertandingan antara PSIS dan Persis sendiri dilaksanakan tanpa penonton. Hal tersebut dikarenakan pihak aparat tidak memberikan izin dengan alasan keamanan.
