Pendewasaan Usia Perkawinan (PUP) adalah upaya untuk meningkatkan usia pada perkawinan pertama. Menurut UU No. 16 Tahun 2019 tentang pernikahan, usia minimal menikah adalah 19 tahun untuk pria dan wanita. Perhitungan itu adalah perhitungan terbaik dari yang terburuk jika dilihat dari aspek fisik, ekonomi, dan mental. Namun, seuai anjuran ahli, dalam hal ini BKKBN  usia minimal menikah adalah 21 tahun untuk wanita, dan 25 tahun untuk pria, tentu dengan pertimbangan aspek fisik, ekonomi, dan mental yang matang.

Mengapa 20 Tahun Keatas?

1. Siap secara Fisik

Secara fisiologis dan biologis, salah satu faktor yang masih paling menentukan apakah sesorang itu telah siap menikah atau belum adalah usia, dan usia ini berhubungan erat dengan fisik, ketika usia masih belia/dini, maka organ reproduksi juga masih belum matang, ketika menikah dini, sementara organ reproduksi belum siap, maka resikonya besar bagi ibu hamil atau bagi bayi yang di kandung. Kesiapan secara fisik untuk menikah sangat penting karena dengan fisik yang berkualitas akan menghasilkan generasi yang berkualitas pula.

2. Siap secara ekonomi dan sosial

Keuangan yang sehat adalah pondasi kuat untuk membangun sebuah kehidupan rumah tangga. Jika kamu belum memiliki sumber penghasilan yang jelas, sebaiknya kamu tidak buru-buru menikah. Bagi remaja dan anak muda coba renungkan, Berapa kemampuan uang bulanan kamu? Aset apa yang kamu punya? Apa yang kamu inginkan 5-10 tahun kedepan? Apakah kamu sudah mampu membiayai kebutuhan keluargamu?. Itu adalah beberapa pertanyaan yang harus kamu jawab, dan jawabannya harus siap, untuk menyiapkan kehidupan berkeluarga.

3. Siap secara mental dan psikologis

Jika memilih teman saja harus berhati-hati, apalagi untuk memilih pasangan dan kemudian memutuskan menikah dengannya. Sifat manusia sangat mudah berubah, apalagi ketika usia muda yang masih ingin mencoba ini itu. Jika sifat labil ini dibawa di kehidupan pernikahan, ini berbahaya. Remaja yang berusia dibawah 20 tahun secara mental masih belum matang dan masih selalu mengedepankan emosiaonal dalam mengambil keputusan.

Karena itulah faktor usia juga mempengaruhi normalitas kematangan mental pada sesorang. Orang yang sudah matang secara mental biasanya dengan mudah akan mengetahui pola perubahan sifat pasangannya, dan menyesuaikan diri dengan perubahan tersebut.

Mengapa PUP penting?

PUP penting untuk keberlangsungan rumah tangga yang sejahtera, tanpa ada permasalahan ancaman seperti perceraian. Bukan saja ancaman perceraian karena kondisi psikis yang masih labil, namun juga berkenaan dengan kehamilan muda yang penuh resiko, baik dari segi kesehatan fisik maupun emosional. Berikut ini ada beberapa alasan mengapa hamil muda itu beresiko bagi ibu hamil:

👿Emosi Yang Belum Stabil

Wanita hamil di usia muda 16-19 tahun biasanya memiliki emosi yang belum stabil. Emosi yang belum stabil ini bisa ditunjukkan dari rasa cemas dan stress secara berlebihan, bahkan hal ini bisa berdampak fatal pada keguguran.

👶Kelahiran Prematur

Tingkat kematangan alat reproduksi wanita hamil muda belum sempurna sehingga belum bisa berfungsi optimal sehingga beresiko menyebabkan kelahiran prematur bahkan ada juga yang sampai menyebabkan kematian ibu hamil.

😷Pendarahan dan infeksi

Otot rahim yang dimiliki wanita hamil muda masih terlalu lemah untuk berkontraksi sehingga bisa menyebabkan pendarahan dan infeksi. Apalagi jika penanganannya ditangani dengan alat yang tidak steril, sangat mungkin bisa berujung pada kematian.

Di usia muda, pertumbuhan tulang panggul wanita masih belum sempurna sehingga berpegaruh terhadap letak janin dalam rahim. Dan ini bisa menyebabkan ibu muda lebih sulit mengejan pada saat melahirkan. Selain itu, kondisi organ reproduksi ibu muda yang belum sempurna juga belum bisa memberikan perlindungan yang sempurna pada janin terhadap ancaman penyakit selama dalam kandungan. Sehingga tidak jarang bayi yang terlahir bisa mengalami kelahiran prematur dan gampang terinfeksi virus.
